In a world where power and inequality intertwine, ReWild Africa champions ecological restoration and societal change, igniting a collective journey towards a sustainable, harmonious future.
"You only have power over people so long as you don't take anything from them" Ewi Stephanie Lamma
Power relationships are always rife with inequality. Contemporary capitalism has led us to believe that, in the name of shared equality, the evils of the past are over. But in the name of this deafening silence, profoundly unjust and unequal biases are maintained. On the scale of the African continent, it is a case of unbridled neo-European-centered colonialism, in the name of which the continent's resources are exploited, its communities marginalised, without at any time being given justice, and their right to belong to this territory, to what has been stolen from them, returned to them.
ReWild Africa is a visionary organization dedicated to ecological restoration and social change. This innovative organization is on a mission to rekindle our connection with the wild and address pressing environmental issues. Rooted in the belief that deep experiences foster deeper questioning and commitment, ReWild harnesses the compelling power of film, education, and immersive experiences to advocate for ecological restoration and societal change.
Founded in South Africa, ReWild Africa's journey began with a year-long exploration of the country's National Parks, mapping out its best hiking trails. This adventure not only connected the founders with nature but also ignited their passion to find and share solutions for our planet's well-being. The essence of ReWild lies in its holistic approach – combining storytelling, art, and scientific research to drive positive behavioral change and inspire a shared humanity with nature.
They collaborates with businesses, innovators, changemakers, and what they call 'solutionaries' – individuals and groups dedicated to creating sustainable, large-scale impacts. Their work spans diverse fields, including systems ecology, filmmaking, sustainability, and biomimicry, all unified by a common goal: to be a voice for the wild and nurture a world where both people and nature thrive.
Through their films, educational initiatives, and engaging experiences, ReWild not only educates but also motivates action towards a greener, more equitable world. They believe in the transformative power of stories, experiences, and collaborative efforts to address the complex challenges of ecosystem loss and societal inequities. In doing so, ReWild Africa stands as a testament to the possibility of a harmonious coexistence between humanity and the natural world.
